A new six part music series that celebrates the rise of women in traditional Irish music

A story told by female musicians, the first programme explores the legacy of women in the Irish harping tradition. From the time of Rose Mooney, the only female harper present at the Belfast Harp Festival of 1792, we follow the story of female harpers to the present day. Mná an Cheoil features musicians from around the counrty including Aibhlín McCrann, Dr.Michelle Mulcahy, Laoise Kelly and Kathleen Loughnane.
